The TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) arm of Mount Kenya University (MKU), Equip Africa Institute is a leading accredited and licensed technical and vocational training institution, recognized under the TVET Act 2013 and fully aligned with the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Education.
Operating from its main Centre in Thika, the Institute also has Centres in Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisii, Kitale, Mombasa, and Malindi.

Qualification
To qualify for appointment a candidate must have the following:
- An earned Bachelor’s degree qualification in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited university
- At least three (3) years teaching experience in a similar Institution.
- Be registered as a Trainer by Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority
- Relevant Work experience in Industry will be an added advantage
- Be registered by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).
- Have completed pedagogy training.
To qualify for appointment to teach short courses, a candidate must have the following requirements:
- An earned B2 Proficiency Level certificate or degree in the relevant language:
- German: Goethe-Zertifikat
- Italian: CELI (Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana)
- French: DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française)
- English: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics
- Kiswahili: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics
2. Have at least two (2) years of teaching experience in a similar institution, preferably teaching up to B2 level.
3. Experience with CEFR-aligned curricula and communicative teaching methodologies.
Key responsibilities also include
You will be responsible for: -
- Plan, prepare and teach the units assigned, as outlined in the course outline in line with the course curriculum.
- Development of learning materials, timely preparation and submission of professional records and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
- Plan, develop and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.
- Assess students work and monitor their achievement
- Take part in the Course review process and adapt delivery patterns to meet student needs
- Examining and marking of Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts and end of term assessments) and timely uploading of marks in the MIS of the units assigned
- Carry out Practical instructions for trainees and maintaining their portfolios of evidence
- Supervising students during assessments
- Contributing to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum
- Participation in departmental meetings
- Other duties as may be assigned to you by your supervisor

Terms of Engagement
Successful candidates will be engaged on a contractual basis as part-time trainers. These positions offer a competitive remuneration package.
Successful candidates will be retained in the Equip Africa Institute database for a period of 5 years subject to satisfactory performance of allocated duties and responsibilities.
