Qualification

Must have:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in relevant discipline
  • Expected to have registered for a PhD degree in the relevant discipline.(for non-PhD)
  • Must be full time teaching staff member at Mount Kenya University holding the position of Tutorial Fellow or above.
  • Familiarity with Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODEL) operations and academic administration.
  • Proven ability to coordinate academic programs and support student learning in a blended or online environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in E- Learning Management Systems and online teaching tools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, student support, and institutional goals.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage academic operations at the centre.

Key responsibilities also include

 Reporting to: Centre Coordinator, of the ODEL Centre

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Managing academic matters for ODEL (Virtual & DIBEL) programmes.
  2. Oversee student admission and registration for ODEL programmes.
  3. Ensure Implementation of policy guidelines on student admission, deferment and resumption of studies.
  4. Ensure compliance to university admission criteria and processes
  5. Ensure implementation of policy guidelines on student registration and credit transfer
  6. Manage students’ nominal role
  7. Ensure safe custody of students’ records
  8. Maintain an accurate database for students
  9. Monitor implementation of status of students on academic leave and disciplinary cases
  10. Ensure compliance with the fee collection and class size policy guidelines
  11. Induct new students on university policies and regulations governing academic affairs VMLS platform and examination regulations
  12. Recruit associate faculty for DIBEL in Liaison with Centre coordinator
  13. Induct New staff on university policies and regulations governing academic affairs, VMLS platform and examination regulations
  14. Monitor teaching and learning
  15. Manage examination administration, marking and result processing
  16. Represent the Centre in the campus Academic Committee, University Examination Board and other relevant university committee meetings
  17. Perform other duties as may be delegated by the Centre coordinator
