MKU invites applications from suitably qualified, visionary, competent, dynamic and experienced professionals with impeccable track record to fill the positions of SENIOR LECTURERS, SCHOOL OF LAW – THREE (3) POSITIONS in the following specializations; 

  1. International Human Rights and Democracy
  2. International Development Law
  3. International Energy Law

Qualification

Must have:

  • PhD degree in Law from an Accredited University
  • At least 3 years of University teaching experience

                                                OR

  • Master’s Degree in Law from an Accredited University
  • At Least 7 Years of Teaching at a University, 4 of which should be as a Lecturer
  • Must have Registered for a PhD in Law
  • Must have at least 4 publications in credible and peer reviewed journals
  • Successful supervision of at least 3 post graduate students to completion
  • Evidence of attracting research funds and grants to support research initiatives or scholarly projects will be an added advantage
  • Being a member of a professional body will be an added advantage.

Key responsibilities also include

Reporting to: Dean, School of Law

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Teach postgraduate and or undergraduate students in the specific areas of specialization through design and delivery of high-quality engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops ensuring that course objectives are met
  • Supervise postgraduate research: projects, dissertations, and thesis.
  • Assess students’ overall performance and gauge the effectiveness of teaching and learning; through setting, moderating and marking program work. i.e. practical sessions and examinations and provide appropriate feedback to students.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Law curriculum, incorporating contemporary legal issues and developments to reflect current industry trends and academic standards
  • Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students
  • Conducting independent and collaborative research in one’s area of expertise, publishing and disseminating research results through publications, conferences and workshops to create and enhance knowledge
  • Collaborating with colleagues to enhance the overall quality of teaching and research within the department and support other program leaders to manage the ongoing strategic development and implementation of academic programs
  • Creating, maintaining and expanding linkages with industry practitioners, professional organizations to facilitate experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Identify sources of funding and grants to support research initiatives or scholarly projects
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
