Qualification

  • Must hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Must have served at Grade 12 for a minimum period of three (3) years at Mount Kenya University, or have equivalent experience in a comparable position in a recognized university or academic institution.
  • Must demonstrate proven academic leadership and administrative competence in a university teaching, research, and/or academic management environment.
  • Must be a recognized scholar, with evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals, authorship of university-level books, and participation in funded research projects, grants, consultancies, and/or receipt of academic awards.
  • Must be registered with, and an active member of, relevant professional bodies or associations, where applicable, and in good standing

 

OR

  • Must have a Master’s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Must have served at Grade 12 for a minimum period of five (5) years at Mount Kenya University, or have equivalent and relevant experience in a comparable position in a recognized university or academic institution.
  • Must demonstrate proven academic leadership and administrative competence in a university teaching, research, and/or academic management environment.
  • Must possess relevant professional qualifications and registration with applicable professional bodies, where applicable.

Key responsibilities also include

Reporting to: Registrar, Academic Administration

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee implementation of policy guidelines on student admission, deferment and resumption of studies.
  • Work closely with the academic department on a recruitment strategy to improve awareness of University programmes.
  • Prepare summaries of applicants for admission for consideration by the Admission Committee.
  • Ensure compliance to University admission criteria and processes in all campuses.
  • Oversee enrolment of students.
  • Prepare student enrolment report every semester/trimester for submission to Deans Committee.
  • Advise the marketing department on programmes to be advertised.
  • Implement of the University Service charter in relation to admission matters.
  • Assist in Marketing of University programs.
  • Prepare summaries of applicants and their grades.
  • Maintenance of student records.
  • Assist with planning and organization of the convocation ceremonies.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
