Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
Must have:
- PhD in counselling or its equivalent from an accredited institution
- Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling from an accredited institution.
- 3 years’ experience at Grade 11 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.
- Be registered with and active members of professional associations in his/her profession where applicable.
Or:
- Master’s degree in Counselling.
- Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling from an accredited institution.
- 5 years’ experience in Grade 11 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.
Key responsibilities also include
Reporting to: Dean of Students
Duties and responsibilities:
- Promote the student’s welfare in terms of psychological, emotional, social and mental well-being.
- Liaise with the academic departments to provide career guidance and placement services to students/graduates.Organize and coordinate relevant public lecturers for students and staff.
- Organize and implement seminars and workshops for the enhancement of personal growth and development of the students and staff.
- Implement guidance and counselling policies within the university as well as any other relevant restorative policies.
- Liaise with other counselling organizations to enhance service provision in the University.
- Provide information for planning and budgeting for guidance and counselling programmes.
- Offer extension services in collaboration with the social welfare departments.
- Mediate between the external community and the university in order to foster healthy relationships.
- Liaise with the Dean of Students/associate Deans of students ( Campuses) and any other relevant offices for the well-being of the institution.
- Develop programs or systems that will support e- counselling in the University and introduce application of Artificial Intelligence to counselling.
- Performing any other duty that may be assigned to you from time to time by the Dean of Students.
