Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
Must have:
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized Academic Institution.
- At least two (2) years of experience in a similar role.
- Must be registered by the Pharmacy & Poisons Board.
Key responsibilities also include
Reporting to: Deputy Director, Academic & Research Affairs
Duties and responsibilities:
- Preparing laboratories, equipment, apparatus, reagents and other materials for practical classes, demonstrations, examinations and research activities.
- Providing technical support to lecturers and students during practical sessions and demonstrating the proper use and handling of laboratory equipment.
- Setting up and conducting practical experiments in accordance with approved procedures and laboratory manuals.
- Operating, maintaining, calibrating and carrying out routine checks on laboratory equipment and reporting faults for repair and servicing.
- Preparing, labelling, storing and handling chemicals, reagents, specimens, samples and other laboratory materials.
- Maintaining adequate stocks and accurate records of laboratory equipment, chemicals, reagents, consumables and other supplies.
- Providing technical support to academic staff, postgraduate students and researchers undertaking laboratory-based teaching and research activities.
- Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety, health and environmental requirements, including proper use of protective equipment and safe disposal of laboratory waste.
- Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, orderliness and proper organisation, and ensuring that facilities are ready for use.
- Maintaining laboratory records, including equipment usage, maintenance, calibration, practical sessions, experiments and research activities.
- Supporting laboratory inspections, audits and quality assurance activities.
- Performing any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
